Marquee Maintenance and Storage Checklist

Commercial marquees are repeatedly transported, installed, used and dismantled. A documented maintenance and storage process helps a hire company identify damage early, keep compatible components together and provide better information when replacement parts or engineering review are required.

Build a Marquee Maintenance Record

Give each structure or compatible component group a clear asset reference. Record the frame system, bay spacing, cover set, walling, doors, flooring and accessories assigned to it. Keep purchase documents, drawings, installation instructions and project-specific engineering information with that record.

After every project, note the installation location, surface, weather exposure, missing parts, damaged components and repairs completed. This history is more useful than relying on memory when the same equipment returns to service months later.

Inspect Components Before Packing

Aluminium frames and connectors

Check profiles, connection points, plates, pins, fasteners and bracing for visible deformation, cracks, unusual wear or corrosion. Separate any questionable component from service and send photographs and dimensions to the manufacturer or a competent engineer. Do not straighten, weld or drill structural parts without an approved repair method.

PVC covers and wall panels

Inspect seams, keder edges, tension points, zips, eyelets and high-contact areas. Clean covers with methods and products approved for the supplied fabric. Let every panel dry fully before folding or rolling it for storage. Mark the position and orientation of each panel so that the next installation team can identify it quickly.

Doors, flooring and accessories

Check door tracks, rollers, seals, floor boards, support members, linings and climate-control accessories separately. Moving parts should operate freely before packing. Protect glass, finished surfaces and electrical components with suitable packaging, and keep small compatible parts in labelled containers.

Use a Dry, Organised Storage Area

Store components off the ground in a dry, ventilated area protected from standing water, chemicals, impact and uncontrolled traffic. Keep covers away from sharp edges and heat sources. Use racks, crates or pallets that support the packed load without distorting long profiles or crushing fabric.

Separate wet or contaminated items from clean stock. If equipment returns from a difficult site, create a quarantine area until inspection and cleaning are complete. A clear check-in and check-out process reduces the chance that damaged or incompatible parts are sent to the next installation.

Prepare a Pre-Dispatch Check

Before loading for the next project, confirm the component count against the planned structure. Check that the correct frame bays, covers, walling, anchors, doors, flooring and tools have been allocated. Review the new site surface, access, local weather information and project-specific engineering requirements rather than assuming that a previous configuration is suitable.

Plan Replacement Parts Before They Are Urgent

Keep a record of frequently handled components and parts with long procurement or delivery lead times. When requesting a replacement, provide the original order reference if available, the structure model, frame profile, bay spacing, component dimensions, connection photographs, quantity and delivery destination.

Browse marquee accessories and replacement components, and review the marquee tent specification guide for the project information needed during a technical review.

Maintenance and Storage Checklist

  • Record the structure, project and component set.
  • Inspect frames, connectors, covers, walls, doors, flooring and accessories.
  • Isolate damaged or uncertain parts from service.
  • Clean with approved methods and dry all fabric before packing.
  • Label panels, small parts and compatible component groups.
  • Store equipment off the ground in a dry, protected area.
  • Verify the component count and site requirements before dispatch.
  • Use manufacturer or engineer-approved repair and replacement instructions.
